Time to mow the lawn.

There are 2 yards on my block that are kept up. This doesn't seem to deter the would be landscapers from stopping by. Even with 70% of the yard being brown "tomorrow no problem". I use them as a barometer to determine when to take care of the yard.

Rat dastards

Getting home today neither one of the boys are in the side yard on the West side of the house. That side of the house has a chain link fence. Pull into the driveway and there are both the boys. That side of the house has a wood gate. So how is it that I can see both of them? The white truck is in the backyard with the tailgate down. The boys are sitting on the roof of the truck.

Third

On he way home just past 35th Ave. traffic was stopped at railroad crossing. Apparently they had been there awhile cars starting to do the u-turn thing. A semi decides he's waited long enough and he starts to turn around 53' trailer and all. So what happens with the back end of a trailer when making a u-turn. It swings into the line of cars next to it yep hitting some lucky person. The vehicle that got hit had for sale painted on the window. That's when I decided to do the u-turn thing. Trailer had both East bound and 1 1/2 westbound lanes blocked.
Didn't even go shooting.

2 for 2

Ok so you remember back on 3/23 I saw an accident. Recap went shooting coming back tire does a kaboom. Waiting for tow truck a pickup rear ends car stopped at light.
Today on the way over to a friends house to go do some shooting a smaller SUV comes flying down the off ramp at 101 and Camelback tires squealing. I see this and hit the breaks quickly check the mirrors, nobody behind me. Look back to the path the vehicle was going, view is blocked by a semi stopped at the light. Then I see the SUV slam into the trailer at the exact place that the fuel tank is for the refer unit. That thing was at least 3/4 full. So all this fuel is dumping onto the road in front of me. The guy in front of me is stopped. I don't want to be on this side of the truck with all that fuel flowing accross the road. Check the mirrors again still clear go around the truck in front of me and get stuck at the light. Now I'm hearing tires spinning, the guy in the SUV has put it into reverse and is on the gas. This guy is going to kill someone. I really want to de-ass the area. This guy has little control of the vehicle now at least 1 blown front tire. He managed to get into the landscape area next to a gym and was doing doughnuts when the light went green. Several people had gotten out of their vehicles including semi driver who was on a cell phone. Are you people freakin nuts. He's got a ton of steel that he's throwing around with reckless abandon. I've got maybe an ounce and a half of lead on my hip, that is a no win situation.

I've done that good samaritan thing where you wait around for an hour or 2 til the popo takes your statement. The gal that had stopped behind me last time I did that had her rear window shattered by debris from some asshat doing 70 through an accident scene. Not doing that again, as no good deed ever goes unpunished.

Other than that shooting was good. None of us where on. The rifle I was using is close to being on target but it's not perfect. We where trying to hit targets that are 1" in diameter makes it very difficult.

The loin cloth for those of you who knew about it was fantastic. The reaction was priceless.

That is all.

Couldn't help but grin.

Saturday morning I was putting new siding on the storage room that is attached to the garage. One of the neighbors pulled up to let me know he's a handyman. Gives me his business card, all Spanish. The boys are at the gate sniffing as I'm talking with Jesus. Jesus is not taking his eyes off the gate :-). Gives me the warm fuzzy feelings knowing that people are intimidated by the boys.

Hows that business model go?

So I stopped by the beer store, the place I get the fixins for beer. Here's what I need. "Sorry we don't have that." Excuse me the beer store doesn't have the ingredients to make beer? Basically you have a store with no inventory. OK how does that make money?

Round one

Well the first round of layoffs has rolled through work today. Rumor mill was at full speed this morning. I was talking with the lead in the returns area. He was commenting on how my department and his should be spared as we are usually understaffed. He was let go, probably due to his salary. Work is like a mini soap opera makes going there everyday interesting.

Step away from the fruit..

What did the strawberry ever do to anyone? Why can't it just be left alone? Is there some Frankenstein experiment funded with bail out money to mutilate the strawberry and conjoin it with some other fruit that can't stand on it's own. Strawberry kiwi, Strawberry banana, Strawberry rhubarb, Strawberry mango, Strawberry guava the list goes on. It's like the Strawberry is the bacon of the fruit world. "Bananas aren't sellin Bob." "Put some strawberries in with them. Strawberries make everything better."
Don't like kiwi throw some strawberries in there, instant good.
Don't like hot dogs wrap some bacon around it, instant good.
Must be why bacon and strawberries get top billing. Don't go there...
The comprehensive list of ingredients that strawberries can be combined with RUM, chocolate, cream and sugar.

My kingdom for a..

spare? Once again out and about with the K-5. Went shooting with a friend. Knowing I didn't have a spare we threw his spare, from a 89 Chevy truck, in the back. On the way out we're feeling a vibration. We pull over and do a look see, nothing. Continuing on our marry way we turn off onto a dirt road and meander down some washes.

We oxidize nitrates and after a couple of hours look the K-5 over and head for home. Meandering back out the wash and dirt road. Safely back to the main road how lucky is that. The vibration is back so I betting it's the front right tire. We decide to pull over into the covenant landfill 4 lanes wide no traffic, Sunday. I start to get the k-5 jacked up while Mark loosens the lug nuts. Then Murphy shows up. I have six lugs the spare from Marks truck is for five lugs.

Plan B there are several tire places in Buckeye we'll take it slow and hit one of those for a replacement. We get to the corner of AZ 85 and MC85 and the tire pops.

Plan C, AAA to the rescue. Turns out we we're about 1/2 a mile from one of the tire shops. If you don't have AAA I highly recommend them.

I did get to see an accident while waiting for the tow truck driver. We're about 50 yards from a light. Traffic is stopped and this Red Ford Dually is slowing but not enough to stop before rear ending a stopped vehicle. After they hit I see the guys head in the truck pop up. He must have been reaching for something on the floor.

Well that was easy,,,

Have a renter for the CG house. Got the name of an agent that specializes in rental properties from my real estate guy. Signed the listing contract Saturday. Signed the rental agreement today. They move in April first (hmmm... I think a signed contract trumps April fools day).
So today at work one of the forklift drivers hit a guard rail and set the truck alarm off. They couldn't get the alarm reset. So they have the front end opened up and one of the control boxes in the lift is "gforce", go figure.
Bathroom is still green.

Classic dad "We don't paint."

The following is a letter dad wrote to his employer that had him paint a fence with his friend/co-worker. Apparently they didn't like painting. After some research and a couple days the recipient realized that he'd been had.

LAW OFFICES OF:

OFFICE: (602) 644-0881 FACSIMILE (602) 236-2369
Lamar A. Pentameter, Atty.
Mr. N. Arizona 85203
May 21, 1995
Dear Mr. N.,
Our law firm represents the interests of Mr. H. R. Greenlaw, who resides at 11329 North Robin Street, Mesa, AZ.
On or about the eleventh of May this year, Mr. Greenlaw had opportunity to contact some painters who identified
themselves to be employees of your company. At the time these persons were applying light cream colored paint to
a stucco fence on a property on Nora Drive, adjacent to our client's property. Mr. Greenlaw owns a 1993 Lexus
G-30. The vehicle is black and maintained in showroom condition. At the present time there are thousands of light
cream colored spots on three sides and the top of the vehicle. Mr. Greenlaw requests that you provide the labor
and materials to return his vehicle to the showroom condition that he normally maintains. In addition he requests
a modest sum of money to compensate for the inconvenience and embarrassment that he has suffered at the hands of
your obviously negligent employees. The small sum of thirty thousand dollars is considered by Mr. Greenlaw and
our firm to be adequate at this time.
We look forward to hearing from you, or your bank within the next ten days.

Thank you.

Lamar A. Pentameter, Attorney at Law

Other than that...

how was the play Mrs. Lincoln? I'm driving to work the other day in the Blazer. A white Camaro is drifting into my lane. I'm looking down at the roof of the car thinking how can you not see me. Seriously I'm right next to you the big blue thing. Maybe no more than 6" apart the Camaro swerves back into its' lane. Now I can see the driver cell phone in hand texting. Gives me the I'm sorry wave and continues texting. What is so important that you put your safety and the safety of those around you in jeopardy?

And so it begins

Moved some stuff this morning. I find it interesting the stuff that disappears every time I visit the new place. Had to have the toilet and tub replaced. The old tub in 5 different pieces disappeared the first day. The tank for the toilet took 2 weeks to disappear. However it only took 7 days for some type of shelf to appear. Every day I stop by there is more trash in the yard.

The first weekend I started working on the new place the green barrel disappeared ( that would be the non-recycle trash container) when I went to lunch. It is a Hispanic neighborhood and no I'm not prejudice. So I'm thinking this is going to be a fun hood to live in ;-).

Looks like at least 5 houses for sale on the block.
